WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?

A dental implant is a treatment to place a fixture with the same shape of a tooth root in an area of tooth loss together with an artificial tooth in the area to substitute the tooth.

Replacing missing teeth is important to your overall health and also to the health of your other teeth. When natural teeth are missing, you not only lose functionality but can also experience a host of other issues.

You deserve to smile again, and dental implants will help you do that.

IMPLANT TREATMENT OPTION

SINGLE TOOTH REPLACEMENT

When only a single implant is needed, a fixture is placed and the prosthetics are made for the individual tooth.

IMPLANT-SUPPORTED BRIDGE

An implant-supported bridge is a viable option for multiple missing teeth. The bridge connects the prosthetics to one another and ensures stability.

IMPLANT OVERDENTURE

When two or more implants are placed to provide stabilization of the denture and preserve the underlying bone.

IMPLANT TREATMENT PROCEDURE

The whole process to replace missing tooth with dental implant takes about 4 to 9 months depending on the availability of bones. If a patient has sufficient bone thickness and height, the whole process takes between 3 to 4 months to complete as it takes about 3 to 4 months for the patient’s bone and the inserted titanium to fuse together.

If a patient has reduced bone thickness and height, either artificial bone made of minerals or the patient’s own bone from somewhere in the body is placed onto the inserted implant to encourage bone growth and bone fusion between the titanium and the patient’s existing bone. This process may take 6 to 9 months.

The process of placing Dental Implants is a very comfortable procedure and is mostly done under Local Anaesthesia. You can also choose to have the Dental Implant procedure done under General Anaesthesia.

WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY BENEFITS OF IMPLANTS

A major benefit to dental implants is that they preserve bone and natural tooth tissue, and prevent further deterioration of the facial structure, therefore improve appearance. Dental implants are designed to fuse with bone, and they become lifelong replacements. Hence facial structure collapse is eliminated and you can take multiple years off your smile.

With poor-fitting dentures, the teeth can slip within your mouth, causing you to mumble or slur your words. Dental implants allow you to speak without the worry that teeth might slip.

Unlike dentures, Implants eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures. You can brush, floss, eat, drink and sleep with your dental implants because they are completely permanent.

Sliding dentures can make chewing difficult. Dental implants function like your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favourite foods with confidence and without pain.

Implants are very durable and will last many years with proper care and maintenance.

Dental implants eliminate the embarrassing inconvenience of removing dentures, as well as the need for messy adhesives to keep them in place.

Because dental implants look and feel like real teeth. It helps you feel better about yourself because they allow you to eat, laugh and smile without reservations, and be pain-free and worry-free.

Dental implants are the closest thing to natural teeth. When the entire tooth – including the root – is replaced, your smile will feel and function like natural teeth. Everything in your mouth will look natural, and no one will know you have a new implant-supported smile unless you tell them.
